Who is Minjie?
Hi there.
I am Minjie.
I was born in August 1985, Hangzhou, China, P.R.
After finishing my undergraduate education in psychology and behavior science and another program in Innovation and entrepreneurship at Zhejiang University, I decided to come to the United States to see the most powerful nation in the world, to experience the traditional value in this open society, to learn from intellect and interesting people.I am currently is a Master student at Human Computer Interaction Institute, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh.
Where are you from?
China, indeed it is a mysterious country.
You may knew china because of lovely pandas you saw in the zoo or amazing martial art performance by Jackie Chan from Yimou Zhang's film or the inexpensive and controversial toys you bought for your kids at Wal-Mart.
But this is just one aspect of China, just like people in the rural China. They knew U.S because of the coca-cola brand, Tom Hanks, and Star Wars and Skywalker.
After 4000 years of feudalism and sovereignty, this Country is trying to transform from an authoritative society into an open and democratic one, staggeringly, bravely and sometimes sadly.
This is the country, which spent only 20 years to finish industrial revolution, while it took more than hundreds for the western counterpart.
This is the country, where both civil and brutal things happened. Thousands years long history is a heavy burden while I should be proud of.
This is the country, I believe where great western wisdom meets great eastern wisdom, where universal values are acknowledged and traditional values are preserved.
And this is the country, though some people lose faith of, in its track to a more democratic society. While the process will always encounter obstacles under an authoritative administration, I believe in human nature, I believe a civil society will make it happen.
What is your plan?
Knowledge economy, as Former President Bill said, is a strong engine for our society and highly influencing and shaping the future of the country. The challenge of knowledge economy is that it needs to seek breakthrough innovation relentlessly.
Organization, child of industrial revolution, is a pervasive unit where people could utilize resource more efficiently than they do it individually.
Technology, as a tool, could help the organization or individual to attain certain goal they can hardly imagine. However, the highly-paced evolution rate and usability of technology makes it harder to widespread and being adopted.
I am determined to devote myself to help organization and individual better leverage the power of technology by understanding the user, improving usability and delivering innovation. And finally help them build competitive advantage in a knowledge economy circumstance.
